Meet Lisa Maloney, Passionate Founder & Nutrition Innovator
Lisa Maloney, founder of Spicy Spuds & Other Stuff, has been a fervent advocate for healthy eating since her high school years, where she was enrolled in a two-year food service management program. Graduating with a B.S. in Food Science and Nutrition from Chapman University, Lisa’s career has been dedicated to enhancing dietary practices. Her journey in nutrition consulting and K-12 Child Nutrition Management has profoundly impacted her approach to food healthiness, especially following significant USDA regulatory changes in 2010 that required schools to offer healthier meals with lower sodium and increased vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.
The Birth of Spicy Spuds & Other Stuff
As a child nutrition director, disturbed by the sight of students choosing convenience store junk food over healthier cafeteria options, Lisa was inspired to improve the appeal and nutritional value of school meals. This led to the creation of Spicy Spuds & Other Stuff — a line of custom, sodium-free spice blends designed to make healthy food delicious without the added sodium. Starting in her home kitchen, Lisa experimented with various combinations, crafting blends that were both flavorful and versatile enough for any dish, whether in a home or commercial kitchen.
